Garage a Trois!

Shot these back in August of 2010 and figured I’d give them a proper showcase here because…well, Garage a Trois is cool. Cooler than my pictures, but I got a few nice ones. I was shooting some Agfa APX 400 black and white film pushed to EI 3200; a nice trick if you want grain out the yin yang. I’ve shot enough Kodak Tmax 3200 to determine it isn’t any less grainy, so what can ya do? I don’t even think you’re supposed to be able to push APX 400 this far—I have to develop it for 23 minutes in D76 at 1:1 (at 68ºF for those of you scoring at home). The proof is on the screen…it works.

Now, about the band: Damn these guy are fun. GAT is comprised of half of Critters Buttin’ (Skerik on saxiphonics & Mike Dillon on percussion and vibes), Stanton Moore from Galactic on drums and Marco Benevento, a keyboard bad-ass who has really come into his own in the last five years or so. I can’t describe their music, you’ve just gotta hear for yourself.

Check out this little photo montage I put together using an edited version of “Omar,” the first track from their newest offering, Always Be Happy, But Stay Evil.
